ABOUT BRNO

Brno is the second-largest city in the Czech Republic. According to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rankings, Brno is one of the top ten best student cities in the world.

Explore places related to Gregor Johann Mendel, the Brno abbot who is known as ‘the father of genetics’, and his study of the laws of biological inheritance.

Mendel University in Brno (MENDELU) is a public institution with a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research that has driven new ways of thinking since 1919 and proudly bears the name of J. G. Mendel, the founder of modern genetics.

 

After the lectures we are gonna move to Café Era – outstanding functionalist café close to the campus. The café was built in the years 1928–1929, inspired by contemporary Dutch architecture and the avant-garde movement De Stijl.
